Duct Ectasia

IMAGING FINDINGS: ​

Breast ultrasound demonstrates anechoic, tubular branching ducts in the subareolar region. There is echogenic debris present within the ducts. Mammography demonstrates dilated ducts and mixed density masses in the subareolar region.
 
WHY IT MATTERS:

1. Duct ectasia is the non-specific dilatation of one or more ducts in the subareolar region of the breast. It is a relatively common, benign finding.
2. Evaluate for any suspicious intra-ductal filling defects or any solitary peripheral dilated ducts.
