Multifocal IDC on MRI

IMAGING FINDINGS: ​

Breast MRI demonstrates two adjacent enhancing round masses with irregular margins in the right breast on the MIP image.
 
WHY IT MATTERS:

1. Multifocal = more than one malignancy in same quadrant of breast
   
2. Multifocal disease is common and does not eliminate the option of breast conservation as long as the breast surgeon knows the extent of disease.
   
3. The Maximum Intensity Projection (MIP) image is very good for giving an overview of the extent of disease.
