Ring Enhancement on Breast MRI

IMAGING FINDINGS: ​

Axial post-contrast subtraction image demonstrates two round enhancing masses with irregular margins in the right breast. The mass marked by an arrow shows suspicious ring enhancement.
 
WHY IT MATTERS:

1. When a breast mass is identified on MRI, analysis of the shape, margins and internal enhancement characteristics should occur.
2. Internal enhancement characteristics include homogeneous, heterogeneous and rim enhancement. Rim enhancement is the most suspicious for malignancy.
