Steatocystoma Multiplex on Mammography

IMAGING FINDINGS: ​

​Bilateral CC views demonstrate multiple round circumscribed fat density masses within the breasts. Imaging characteristics are consistent with multiple benign oil cysts. 

 WHY IT MATTERS:

1. Steatocystoma multiplex is a rare familial hamartomatous malformation that is characterized by the presence of multiple benign intradermal oil cysts.
2. Mammography shows multiple oil cysts in the subcutaneous tissues which present as multiple, small, round masses with a circumscribed margin, central fat density, and a peripheral high-density rim.
